Dr TITILAYO ADESANMI (NEE KASIM), graduated twenty-two years ago as a Medical Doctor from the prestigious and internationally recognised College of medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL). She proceeded to post graduate studies and qualified as a Paediatrician in 2001 i.e. sixteen years’ ago. She is a member of the West African College of Physicians, a fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College in Paediatrics, a member of the Paediatric association of Nigeria and also a member of the Nigerian Society for Paediatric infectious diseases. Her commitment to evidence- based child health care is shown in her active participation in international, national and local professional conferences, as well as involvement in research in various aspects of paediatrics both in the public and private sectors; most of which she presented at various professional conferences. Some of these research works are:

  • Diagnosis of malaria in children using a rapid diagnostic test.
  • Prevalence of malaria parasitaemia in children in Nigeria.

She is passionate about improving the quality of child care not just within the four walls of a hospital, but also at the community level i.e. at home, at the cretches, in the schools and in every place where children can be found. In pursuit of this, she has been to over thirty schools and cretches within Lagos, Nigeria training both staff and parents in various pertinent child-health related topics. She regularly participates in health education programs on the television and also on radio, some of which are: “Immunisations in children” on Eko FM; “Nutrition in children” on “The Amazons show” on AIT, “Why is my child not eating?” on Doctors on air on Classic FM and “Cancer in children” also on classic FM. She also started a health-facility- based monthly health talks (an interactive forum between the paediatrician and parents/all child-care- givers) a few years ago. Another expression of this passion is the on-going vitamin A awareness program and the giving of vitamin A supplementation FREE to all children at her hospital, Lifefort children’s centre.

In 2007, she returned to Lagos from Enugu where she had worked as both a resident in paediatrics and a consultant paediatrician. Sequel to this, she worked at Emel Hospital Festac for six years as consultant paediatrician and the director of clinical services. As the Director of clinical services, she not only ensured quality assurance of all the services rendered to the patient at Emel hospital, but was also a much sought after professional trainer of various categories of medical doctors, registered nurses, registered midwives, registered pharmacists, registered laboratory scientists and all other hospital staff. Excellence in customer service is her watchword.

She presently works at Lifefort Children’s Centre, Surulere as both a consultant paediatrician and the medical director. As a consultant paediatrician at Lifefort Children’s Medical Centre, she has successfully managed a variety of Paediatric cases ranging from care of the premature baby to various allergic conditions in children; to developmental problems in children; to fever without an obvious focus in children, just to name a few.

She is happily married with three children.
